New Study Skills, Revision Methods and Exam Techniques DVD

Uniview have released a new DVD on Study Skills, Revision Methods and Exam Techniques by Cara Flannagan, the well known A Level Psychology Author.

Our featured A Level Psychology resource this week is the COPE Inventory which measures the extent to which a person uses emotion-focused coping styles, such as seeking emotional social support, denial and venting of emotions and problem focused styles, such as seeking instrumental social support, planning and active coping.

Lots of Resources for AQA-A A Level Psychology

This week's A Level Psychology Resource of the Week is Mnemosyne, a flash-card learning tool that works out the best time to show each card. Cards you remember well are shown less often and difficult cards are shown more often. It is also based on memory research that shows that spacing revision over time is better than cramming over a short period. This means that if you use the program each day, it will work out when the best time is to show each card.

This week's resource is a fantastic website that allows you to generate average faces, transform faces, make a baby from photos of two parents and more. You can upload your own photos to transform, which you can use for psychology coursework. I have confirmation that you are free to use generated images for educational purposes, such as coursework.

Psychology Resource of the Week: All in the Mind Podcast
This week's psychology resource is the All in the Mind podcast from ABC Radio National. This is a very interesting and informative podcast that often addresses topics that are directly relevant to A Level Psychology. In the last few weeks they have discussed smart drugs that can improve memory and concentration; interviewed Michael Gazzaniga, who worked with Roger Sperry on split brains; discussed out of body experiences - they even tell you a simple way that you can have one; and have discussed whether chimpanzees should be given human rights - this includes the very sad story of Nim Chimpsky who was taught to use American Sign Language, but when the research was over was sent to a medical research facility...
