Rise of the Cyberrats: Scientists Create Robot Controlled by Rat Brain Cells
In the Doctor Who episode "Rise of the Cybermen", John Lumic, a disabled megalomaniac and genius, researched ways of making humans immortal by bonding the body to a metal exoskeleton and preserving the brain in "copyrighted chemicals": the parallel earth version of the cybermen were created. On the real earth, cybernetics professor Kevin Warwick of the University of Reading (who incidently has a device implanted in his left arm that enables his nervous system to be connected to a computer) and his colleague Ben Whalley have created a robot that is controlled by cultured rat neurons. Kevin Warwick is no megalomanic, however. He is motivated by the fact that this new research may help people with diseases of the brain.

Don't Sleep On It - It Is Best To Think About Complex Decisions
Two years ago Dutch researchers led by Professor Ap Dijksterhuis claimed that when making complex decisions, such as buying a house or car, it is better to gather all the relevant information and then sleep on it. Conscious thought has a limited capacity, they claimed, trusting unconscious processes to reach a decision is the best option.
